Kindle, Out Of Stock

Amazon.com, Inc. is one of the most famous electronic commerce companies worldwide. It was founded in Seattle, Washington. It is currently ranked number one as America’s biggest online retailer, with triple sales as opposed to its number 2, Staples Inc. Amazon.com was founded in 1994, by Jeff Bezos, and was launched online just one year later, in 1995. It originally started out as an online bookstore, yet it soon diversified its offer, which started to include VHS, DVDs, music CDs, MP3s, computer software, video games, electronics, apparel, furniture, food, toys and many more. Because of its popularity and success, Amazon.com proceeded to open local websites in Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, China and Japan. Some products off Amazon.com are available for global shipping.

In November 2007, Amazon.com released its e-book reader, called Kindle. The device is basically an embedded system that allows the reading of books in electronic formats – e-books. Kindle has a sufficiently large display, and uses a specific format – AZW. The content that is compatible with the device can be downloaded off Amazon.com through Amazon’s network, Whispernet – available through the Sprint EVDO network.

Kindle has proven to be so popular, that it is currently out of stock, as reported by The Wall Street Journal. The Journal gives Oprah credit for the depleted Kindle stock, as the celebrity recommended the e-book reader on her show back in October.
You can still order the Kindle off Amazon.com, yet it will reach you in 11 to 13 weeks. But hey, it will be a great present for Washington’s birthday, which is celebrated on February the 16th.
