It seems that pictures of the new generation of the Amazon Kindle eBook reader leaked on the internet last night. Several tech blogs and websites reported that a user on a forum posted professional-looking photos with the new Kindle.
Amazon is holding a press conference on Monday morning. The fact that the company stated that it was “important” for the journalists to come made many analysts believe that Amazon will certainly highlight the new eBook reader on Monday, as rumors about the device have been filling the web for some time.
According to the photos and the data posted on the forum, the revised version of the Kindle is slimmer and much better looking. Moreover, many of the design flaws of the first generation seem to have been solved, as there are new functions and the buttons are placed more ergonomically. Even though it is only a rumor, the report on the forum pointed out that Amazon Kindle will have a price tag of $359.
Some of the photos that leaked out yesterday illustrate the new eBook reader as having the same thickness of a pencil. Of course, the picture made many people remind of the early days of the iPod Nano, which was also marketed in the same manner in the official photos.
Many recent reports revealed that the new Kindle shares many of its features with its older brother regarding the technical specs. For instance, it seems that the new eBook reader will sport the same black and white screen and a similar EV-DO connection for direct content downloading. The improvements consist of a revised keyboard and a joystick instead of the original scroll wheel.
