A man accused of abducting his 7-year-old daughter during a
supervised visit in Boston last
weekend was taken into custody on Saturday and the girl was found safe,
authorities announced.
Officials received a tip that the man, known as Clark
Rockefeller, was living in a Baltimore
apartment and had a 26-foot catamaran docked at a nearby marina, according to
Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis, cited by the Associated Press.
Clark Rockefeller was charged with felony custodial
kidnapping, assault and battery, and assault and battery with a dangerous
weapon, Ed Davis reported. Furthermore, Mr. Rockefeller will be brought before
the court on Monday to begin extradition proceedings.
Investigators tricked the kidnapper in order to get him out
of the apartment and away from his daughter. They called Mr. Rockefeller and
told him that his boat was taking on water. Thus, police arrested him when he
left the apartment and found the little girl inside. Reigh Boss was found safe,
although she was extremely happy “to see very nice people”, the Associated
Press quoted Noreen Gleason, FBI’s assistant special agent in charge of the
Boston division.
The child lives with her mother, Sandra Boss, who works in London
as a partner in a global management consulting firm.
Clark Rockefeller used at least four known aliases, but
there is no suggestion that he is in any way related to the renowned
Rockefeller family descended from Standard Oil billionaire John D. Rockefeller
Sr., family members said.
