Kid Rock entered his not guilty plea to a battery charge stemming from an October fight in Atlanta at a Waffle House restaurant.
The musician, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie, and five of his companions got involved in a fight and were arrested on charges of misdemeanor battery following Rock's gig at the Atlanta Tabernacle on October 21.
According to police reports, the fight, which resulted in one man being treated for minor injuries at a local hospital, started after another customer recognized a woman in Kid Rock's entourage and approached her.
"We were having a good time. And one kid just started [talking]. ... One thing led to another, and windows were broken," the rocker said at the time.
The office for Kid Rock's lawyer said the musician was not in DeKalb County State Court on Monday. His lawyer waived an arraignment hearing and entered the not-guilty plea on his behalf.
Kid Rock’s most recent studio album, "Rock n Roll Jesus," scored the first No. 1 album of the singer’s career, selling 172,000 copies. It was the rapper/rocker’s first No. 1 in 17 years of career - his previous four albums made it in the Top 10 chart, with 2000’s "The History of Rock" peaking at No. 2.
Rock was involved in another fight in September, at the MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas when he and Motley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee came face to face. The two men, both former husbands of Pamela Anderson, exchanged several punches.
