A shocking event happened Wednesday, around midnight, when
an employee from a plastic plant shot and killed five people, before killing
himself. According to The Associated Press, officials said that the employee
from Atlantis Plastics was arguing with a supervisor and, while he was leaving,
he pulled a gun and shot the supervisor. Afterwards, the gunman went into a
break room and randomly shot several co-workers. He came back and shot another
employee and then he shot himself.
Henderson
police Sgt. John Nevels said that the worker “had words with a supervisor”
before his half-hour break, CNN reported. Two persons died on the spot and four
others died at the hospitals in Henderson and
nearby Evansville, Indiana.
Authorities said that they weren’t sure whether the man was
carrying a gun or went some place else to get it. The Associated Press reported
that another person was injured and was transported to St. Mary's Hospital and Medical Center
in Evansville.
The identities of the victims were not made public. Also,
the name of the shooter wasn’t released.
The company has 150 employees in Henderson. The whole town is shocked that
something like this happened. Some of the employees were sent home after the
shooting.
Atlantis Plastics produces polyethylene stretch films for
wrapping pallets of materials, custom films for industrial and packaging uses
and molded plastic pieces for appliances, announced a new release which was
posted on the company’s web site.
