Two times CMA’s Entertainer of the Year Award receiver, Kenny Chesney is close to receiving the trophy for the third time around, as he was again nominated this year at the Country Music Association Awards nominations on Wednesday. He is also in the run for six other awards, including album of the year for "Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates."
Although “Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven,” the lead single on his latest album, “Lucky Old Sun," due to come out Oct. 14 raced up the charts in three weeks, and he’s constantly on the road on his “Chesney's 2008 Poets & Pirates Tour,” Kenny seems to be amazed by his success with both public and critics: "Mornings like this is where you know the music that means so much to you means something to other people, too.”
Other happy people praising that specific time of the day were vocal duo Sugarland, first time nominees for the CMA's top award, which acknowledges performers' live shows. "Swooping into the entertainer category for the first time....it's a specifically good morning," Sugarland singer and songwriter Jennifer Nettles said. They came in second, after Chesney, with five other nominations.
In a way, even if some were expecting to be nominated, most of the performers were reportedly in shock or extremely excited, as most of them are younger, relatively new-to-the-scene country lovers.
Other CMA nominees included 18-year-old Taylor Swift, receiver of last year’s CMA's Horizon award for upcoming acts and Rascal Flatts, who were on hand to reveal some of the nominees during a live announcement on Wednesday's ABC's "Good Morning America" in New York.
