It surely is a great day to be Kenny Chesney. The entertainer dominated the nominations for the Country Music Association Awards on Wednesday when he won seven nominations including the one for album of the year.
The singer will also be able to defend his title of entertainer of the year, an award he has won for the past two years. This year he’s competing with Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, George Strait and Sugarland.
Sugarland members also did very well as they received five nominations, while Strait also got five nominations as well. Both were nominated for single of the year with "Stay" and "I Saw God Today" respectively.
For the album of the year award, the nominees were Underwood -"Carnival Ride," Chesney - "Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates," Jackson - "Good Time," Strait - "Troubadour" and Brooks & Dunn with "Cowboy Town."
However, Taylor Swift experienced the biggest surprise and had a “really good morning." The 18-year-old was very excited when she heard her name on the list of nominees for female vocalist of the year. The list included Alison Krauss, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride and last year’s winner Underwood.
"I can't believe it!" said the young singer who won CMA's Horizon award for upcoming acts.
As for male vocalist of the year award, the nominees are Chesney, Jackson, Strait, Urban, and last year’s winner Paisley.
The nominees for the CMA awards scheduled to take place in November 12 (ABC) were announced in Nashville on the CMT network.
