Kelsey Grammer, the actor well known for his leading role in "Frasier" and "Cheers", said aloha to doctors while being released from a Hawaii hospital on Wednesday, People magazine reported.
Four days after he checked into the medical facility after suffering a mild heart attack, the 53-year-old actor is "resting comfortably" at his home in Kona on Hawaii's main island according his publicist Stan Rosenfield.
Rosenfield added that Mr. Grammer sent a big thank you to those who phoned, emailed or wrote expressions of concern to him, E!Online reported.
The whole thing started on Saturday when Grammer was paddle-boarding with his wife, Camille. He suddenly felt some chest pains and was rushed to the nearest hospital where doctors told him he actually went though a heart attack.
The five-time Emmy winner suffered the “mild heart attack”, as his publicist described it, a few weeks after the Fox network canceled his new show, "Back to You." The series was produced for only one season.
Grammer is best known for his role as shrink Dr. Frasier Crane. He played the sherry-swilling shrink for 20 years. Initially, he co-stared in NBC’s comedy hit "Cheers” (nine years), but later got his own spin-off series. Grammer also worked as a television producer, director, writer, and a voice artist.
Grammer’s publicist wouldn’t comment on the actor’s condition and declined to give details about the medical treatment received by the star during the weekend. However, he did say the actor appeared to be in good health and he said he did not know whether Grammer had a history of heart trouble.
Grammer’s role as Dr. Frasier made him the highest-paid TV actor in the United States. He also tied the record for the longest-running role portrayed by a single actor in a prime-time show.
