Kelsey Grammer has had a tough summer, with two successive hospitalizations
after suffering a heart attack in May, but he is now out of hospital and “feeling
great,” his spokesman has said.
Kelsey Grammer was hospitalized for a second time in a
matter of weeks last Monday, after he complained of feeling faint while
promoting his new film “Swing Vote.”
He entered an undisclosed hospital in New York and was found to be suffering from
an irregular heartbeat, reports E! Online. His rep Stan Rosenfeld said the
reason for this was Grammer’s medication, which he had been taking since
suffering a heart attack in June.
Scary reports regarding his health first emerged in June,
while he was vacationing with wife Camille in Hawaii. He was said at the time to have
suffered a mild heart attack while paddleboarding with Camille. The couple has
a second home in Hawaii.
Kelsey Grammer, 53, later confessed it had been much more
serious than “mild,” even fearing for his life.
Grammer plays an incumbent president seeking re-election in
the comedy “Swing Vote,” directed by and starring Academy Award-winner Kevin
Costner. Due to his impromptu hospitalization, Grammer was unable to attend
several events promoting the film’s release.
However, he is now safe from harm, Rosenfeld confirms. While
not specifying the exact date the actor left the hospital, Rosenfeld says he is
“feeling great and about to resume normal activities at home.”
“He and his wife Camille want to thank everyone who expressed
concern. They appreciated the kind words,” the rep added.
Kelsey Grammer is best known for portraying psychiatrist Dr.
Frasier Crane first on “Cheers,” beginning with 1984, and then on the
long-running spin-off series “Frasier.”
His portrayal of Frasier has brought him multiple Emmy
Awards, two Golden Globes and a SAG Award.
His most recent project, a new television series costarring Patricia Heaton,
titled “Back to You,” was cancelled by Fox after only one season.
