The Kellogg Company, commonly referred o as Kellogg’s, is one of the most famous, popular and successful multinational companies that produces breakfast foods, snack foods, cookies and crackers. Their corporate headquarters are situated in Battle Creek, Michigan. In 2006, the company brought in revenues of a whopping $10.906 billion.
Recently, Kellogg decided to halt the production and distribution of their popular brand of peanut butter crackers, and have urged their distributors to stop selling this particular brand. The reason for this course of action is that health officials have continuously reported deaths in the salmonella outbreak that has taken over the United States and that is linked to peanut butter.
Company officials have said that they have not received any complaints about their products, yet they decided to pull back their range of peanut butter crackers as a precautionary measure and in an effort to protect the public from yet another potential risk factor. What made Kellogg question the safety of their products was that Peanut Corp. of America, one of Kellogg’s peanut paste suppliers, has announced that they will recall all the peanut butter made in a plant in Georgia.
According to the news release on their website, Kellogg’s is “removing product from retail store shelves and encouraging customers and consumers to hold and not eat these products until regulatory officials complete their investigation of PCA.”
