Keanu Reeves is one of Hollywood’s most versatile actors. The Canadian-born actor has Lebanese origins and is probably best known for the portrayal of chosen hacker-hero in the science fiction trilogy “The Matrix”, Reeves has had contrasting roles in the past. One of his more poplar parts was also the one of Officer Jack Traven in hit-movie “Speed”, where he starred opposite Sandra Bullock. In another sci-fi movie, namely “Johnny Mnemonic”, the actor starred along Dolph Lundgren. Keanu Reeves also had the opportunity to play with the masterful Al Pacino in the supernatural thriller “The Devil’s Advocate”. In “Dangerous Liaisons” he played the very charming and chevalier Dancey, while in “Sweet November” he played a cold, ruthless businessman, seduced by the very liberal character of Charlize Theron. Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron also shared the silver screen in the movie “The Devil’s Advocate”. In “Constantine”, Keanu Reeves played a dark and ominous supernatural investigator who has been to Hell and back.
Keanu Reeves’ latest role is that of alien Klaatu, who came to Earth to talk to the U.N. leaders about the effect earthlings and their recklessness has on other civilizations. Being denied this favor, he decides to destroy mankind, but he changes his mind once he sees another side of humanity with the help of Dr. Helen Benson and her son, Jacob Benson. The movie, “The Day The Earth Stood Still”, is a remake of the eponymous sci-fi movie from 1951.
So far, Reeves has been criticized for playing a very flat part as Klaatu, very emotionless – as some have said. However, one can only wonder how much emotion aliens show.
