Katherine Heigl Commits to "Crapshoot"

“Grey’s Anatomy” star Katharine Heigl was obviously not starry-eyed on the subject of marriage when she recently called it a crapshoot; this has not prevented her though from marrying musician Josh Kelley this Sunday.

Actress Katherine Heigl and musician Josh Kelley married Sunday, Dec. 23, in Park City, Utah, in a Unitarian ceremony before friends and family. People.com reports that “Grey’s Anatomy” co-stars T. R. Knight and Sandra Oh, as well as “Private Practice” star Kate Walsh and her husband Alex Young, attended the wedding.

The ceremony took place in a small, private tent at the Stein Eriksen Lodge, while light snow fell outside, reports People.com. It was officiated by Unitarian minister Tom Goldsmith.

The lovely bride walked down the aisle to an acoustic song written by the groom and performed by a cello and guitar players. Heigl and Kelley reportedly wrote their own vows. A reception followed nearby.

Knight told People magazine afterward that the occasion was “incredible and beautiful.”

Heigl, 29, and Kelley, 27, met in 2005, when Heigl appeared in the singer-songwriter’s video for “Only You.” Last summer, the lovebirds became engaged and started planning the great event.

Heigl told “Entertainment Tonight” last week that she and her husband-to-be had talked everything out and were completely prepared to tie the knot.

“We've talked a lot about it,” she said. “Like, 'Are you having second thoughts here?' And he's like, 'No, I'm so ready for this,' because it's already been 18 months of planning, and we're both just ready for this to happen already.”

Earlier this month, the star of “Knocked Up” told Vanity Fair for its January issue that she has maintained a somewhat traditional perspective on romantic relationships due to her upbringing as a Mormon.

“I didn’t want to live together before we were married. I still have enough Mormon in me - not a lot, but enough - that I wanted to keep that little bit sacred.”

She also confessed she sees marriage as a “crapshoot.”

“The odds are really bad, especially in this town. But I have a lot of faith in Josh, and I wanted to have that one day when I stand in front of my friends and my family and honor him and how important he is in my life. My career is really important to me, but there have to be other great, important things in your life besides work.”

Kelley mirrored her feelings when he told people magazine in November: “It's about showing someone you love that you're actually capable of the ultimate commitment. We're madly in love and she makes me excited to become married and to have a family and spend my life with someone. We're fairly opposite but we also share a lot of the same values.”
