Kate Winslet veiled for a long time a Catherine Deneuve-like
beauty under her usual black jeans and grey T-shirts. However, Vanity Fair
revealed what’s best in the 33-year-old actress: a perfect complexion and a
desirable graceful stature reminding us of actress Catherine Deneuve in the
1967 film “Belle de Jour.”
In the interview accompanying the provocative photos, the
33-year-old “Titanic” star explained that she had never thought of being an
actress, as she had been facing weight problems. She said that her lack of
confidence was caused by the fact that artists seemed to be flawless and that
she just could not picture herself in their watertight world.
“You know, once a fat kid, always a fat kid,” she told the
magazine.
Fortunately for her and her fans, Kate Winslet managed to
leave all of her anxieties behind and made it to the top, since she even set a
record as the youngest actress to receive five Academy Award nominations.
Nevertheless, the actress confesses in the new issue of
Vanity Fair, she is still self-critical sometimes, especially when she admires
women who look great in tight jeans and on high heels. “But then I think, ‘They
can’t be happy in those heels,’” she explains.
And she is right. Her personal life, on the other hand, is
more than enviable. Kate Winslet has been married to director Sam Mendes since
2003 and they have a 5-year-old son together, Joe. The actress also has a
daughter, Mia, 8, from a previous relationship.
Kate Winslet talked about the upcoming movie she is starring
in, “Revolutionary Road,”
a period film directed by her spouse. The production based on the 1961
eponymous novel by Richard Yates represents the first film on which the actress
and her husband worked together and marks the first time Kate Winslet and
Leonardo DiCaprio reunite after their “Titanic” success more than a decade ago.
