Following Thursday morning’s arrest, Kanye West and his road
manager Don Crowley were released several hours later on a $20,000 bail from
the Los Angeles Police Department's Pacific Division.
According to the police, the incident began at the Los
Angeles International Airport near the American Airlines terminal. The two were
waiting for the boarding on their flight to Honolulu when a photographer
started taking their picture. The two were very upset and confronted the paparazzi.
During this time, another man with a video camera began filming the incident.
He managed to catch on film the moment when West grabbed the photo camera and smashed
it on the ground. Mr. Crowley noticed the filming session and walked up to the cameraman
grabbing his device and struggling to get it. In the end the camera ended up on
the ground.
According to the two reporters, their devices were very
expensive and West and Crowley showed no regard for personal property.
Police restrained the two and took them into custody under
charges of felony vandalism. Crowley was allegedly charged with an additional count
of battery. Their representatives have not responded with any comments so far.
"We will wait
for the police to complete their investigation," said Jane Robison,
spokeswoman for the Los Angeles District Attorney's office. There are several
procedures when it comes to these cases and one of them involves the careful analysis
of the testimonies received from the eye witnesses. As it turns out there are
some claiming that Mr. West was ‘attacked’ and that he is the victim in this scenario.
