Someone finally has something nice to say about Britney Spears and it’s none other than former boyfriend and fellow Mouseketeer Justin Timberlake.
One of Oprah Winfrey’s special guests on the Wednesday edition of her popular talk show was singer Justin Timberlake who, although cautious of his words, had plenty of mindful things to say.
He was as usual guarded about his personal life, declining to name his special love lady. “I'm dating someone,” he said, according to excerpts from the interview appearing on the show’s website and added, “All I can tell you is she smells lovely.”
The 26-year-old has been linked to actress Jessica Biel, after the two met at a Golden Globe after-party in January, but neither has confirmed the relationship. There have been photographs showing the two together and Justin had something to say about this too.
He compared the media’s attitude towards celebrities as an irrepressible taste for soap operas and said having the paparazzi follow him around is surreal and invasive of his privacy.
“If two famous people are dating each other, what I've found and I could be wrong, but just in my personal experience, if you're not going to get married, then you're breaking up,” he said. “It's one or the other.”
Of course Oprah is not one to shy away from sensitive subjects and she asked Justin what he thinks is happening to his former girlfriend Britney Spears. He was very much the diplomat.
“I don't know, to be honest with you. I haven't spoken to her in years. I mean, there's no ill will – I have nothing but love for her. It's funny because we dated each other at a time… wow, I haven't talked about this in a long time. It's interesting.”
As Oprah insisted with her question, Justin added “We were teenagers, you know?”
“I think that's basically the best way to describe what happened to us. I think she's a great person, and I don't know her as well as I did,” he continued. “What I do know about her is she has a huge heart, and she is a great person.”
Finally, someone has something nice to say about the troubled singer.
September has been a good month for Justin. He won a Creative Emmy Award for a raunchy spoof he did with comedian Andy Samberg for “Saturday Night Live” and ruled at the MTV Video Music Awards, winning Quadruple Threat of the Year and Male Artist of the Year.
