Justin Timberlake will induct Madonna into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next month in New York, event organizers have announced.
The star-studded musical event to take place March 10 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in Manhattan will pair “SexyBack” singer Justin Timberlake and chameleonic icon Madonna for one special occasion: Madonna’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Their reunion on stage is in good symmetry with the two singers’ collaboration on Madonna’s forthcoming album, whose title was recently announced as “Hard Candy.” This is the pop singer’s final album for Warner Bros and is to be released in Europe on 28 April, then in North America the following day.
Other artists featured on the record are Kanye West, Pharrell Williams and Timbaland. The first single from the album will be “Four Minutes,” produced by Pharrell.
Other inductees on March 10 include Leonard Cohen, John Mellencamp, The Dave Clark Five, The Ventures and Little Walter.
Tom Hanks will induct The Dave Clark Five, the 1960s British pop group that had hits like “Glad All Over” and “Bits and Pieces.” Though similar to the Beatles, the Dave Clark Five never enjoyed the Fab Four’s success.
Billy Joel will induct John Mellencamp, whose 1982 album, “American Fool” garnered widespread appreciation, while Lou Reed will honor Leonard Cohen. Ben Harper will induct Little Walter, who produced 14 Top 10 hits on the R&B charts before his death in 1968 at 37.
John Fogerty will induct instrumental rock band The Ventures, whose hits include “Walk Don't Run” and “Hawaii Five-O.”
Singer-songwriter Jerry Butler will induct Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, founders of the Philadelphia International record label that collaborated with R&B artists such as Butler, The O'Jays, Patti LaBelle and Lou Rawls.
In addition to being honored at the March ceremony, each inducted artist is commemorated at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland Ohio.
Presenters and performers at the induction will be announced at a later date. The induction ceremony will air live on VH1 Classic on March 10, a statement from the event’s organizers said.
