Funny thing about fashion. Some things generally considered uncool may become must-haves overnight if a celebrity feels like waking up in the morning and starting up a new trend.
Like the Tennessee-inspired look that Justin delivered on Sunday at the New York Fashion Week, complete with an extended front porch to a run-down house, a mounted deer head and the Tennessee state flag in the window.
Before the show no one would have in a million years imagined that Vogue editor Anna Wintour could be seen sipping Budweiser (light, we assume) anywhere near leather and fringe jackets. But she did show up at the William Rast Fashion Show, along with celebrities like Jeremy Piven, Kevin Connolly and Emmanuelle Chriqui of HBO's "Entourage," Andy Samberg of "Saturday Night Live," model Rachel Hunter and actress Carla Gugino.
This specific southern-inspired brand is a project of boy-wonder Justin Timberlake, as he says he won’t settle for just being the “Sexy Back” guy, but also an actor and now a fashion entrepreneur.
“I don't want to be known for just one thing. Maybe that's why I do so many things,” he said in the backstage of the show. As to the inspiration for the collection, for those who wouldn’t recognize the flag in the window, Justin says: “It's a lot of stuff, but old Tennessee, new Tennessee — mostly Tennessee."
Celebrity gossip aside, the fashion presented in the show was maybe a little too by-the-book western style and less high-end-with-a-dash-of-country, something that Hollywood will probably not embrace right away, but it also had some original pieces and ideas. Which makes Justin Mister “Bring The Sexy Back to the Country.”
