Christian Bale’s Batman and Brandon Routh’s Superman will not meet in the forthcoming “Justice League” movie about superheroes saving the world, it was reported today.
Moviehole.net reports that casting for “Justice League” will begin in early 2008. It also announces: “Brandon Routh and Christian Bale won't be starring as Superman and Batman, respectively, in the Justice League movie -- but they will both still be starring in the stand-alone Superman and Batman sequels.
“So don't fret fans, there will only be a new Bats and Supes for the team-up movie.”
Bale reportedly told IESB.net that he has not been approached about playing Batman in JLA (“Justice League of America”). The 33-year-old actor added, “It'd be better if (JLA) doesn't tread on the toes of what we're doing, though I feel that it would be better if it comes out after Batman 3.”
According to Moviehole.net, a “casting director for the movie will be onboard next week and it's then that they'll be going after their tighted strongmen.”
The Justice League, a fictional DC Universe superhero team, first appeared in 1960. It includes famed savers of the Universe such as Wonder Woman, Flash, Batman, Hawkgirl, Superman and Black Lightning.
It remains to be seen who will star in the movie and what characters will finally make the cut. Among the best-known incarnations of the Justice League team featured Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman and the Martian Manhunter, alongside Batman and Superman.
Christian Bale starred in 2005’s “Batman Begins,” while Brandon Routh starred in last year’s “Superman Returns.”
