Larry Seidlin, the sobbing Florida judged who ruled in Anna Nicole Smith’s trial over her body, announced his resignation saying he wants to focus on activities in "the educational system, the media and nonprofit organizations."
In a letter addressed to Gov. Charlie Crist, Seidlin explained his decision saying "it is now time for me to devote more of my daily life to my own young family and to pursue the many opportunities that have been offered to me outside the judicial system and I have disregarded until now."
Although the 57-year-old Bronx native didn’t mention any specific plans for the future, he will be leaving at the end of July, Seidlin is rumored to start his own television court show with CBS Television Distribution.
"He won't say," said Chris Stotz, a spokesman for the 17th Judicial Circuit. "He's not commenting on what his future plans are."
According to reports, the judge, who transferred to family court after Smith’s case concluded, received at least 200 phone inquiries from TV recruiters, including CBS' weekend "Early Show," during and after the Smith hearing.
