The authorities spread the saddest piece of news for the beginning of 2009. Jett Travolta, the 16-year-old son of famous actor John Travolta died on Friday at his family’s vacation home in Bahamas. Apparently, the teenager had suffered a seizure.
Jett was found unconscious in a bathroom on Friday morning, by a caretaker. The boy was quickly taken to a Freeport hospital by ambulance, but nevertheless he was pronounced dead, according to a statement released by Superintendent Basil Rahming of the Freeport police.
An autopsy is scheduled, but supposedly Jett had a history of seizures. His parents stated that Jett almost died when he was 2 years old because he was very sick. Doctors told them that he had Kawasaki disease, an illness that leads to inflammation of the blood vessels in young children.
The 16-year-old was the first child of John Travolta and Kelly Preston. The two also have a daughter, Ella Bleu, of only 8 years old. Yet, no further information about the boy’s medication was released.
The Travoltas arrived in the Bahamas on Tuesday in a private plane and were staying at their home in the Old Bahama Bay resort community.
John Travolta married Kelly Preston back in 1991 and their son was born just a year after their weeding party. The actor is certified as a pilot and has five aircrafts. The Boeing 707-138 airliner has the name Jett Clipper Ella, in the honor of his children.
Travolta was previously in love and had a relationship with actress Diana Hyland. Yet, she died of breast cancer in 1977. The actor has been a practitioner of Scientology since 1975.
