The eldest of actor John Travolta's children with wife Kelly Preston, Jett Travolta, died suddenly while on a family vacation in the Bahamas, a rep from the Rand Memorial Hospital in the Bahamas confirmed to TMZ.com.
According to the family lawyer, Michael Ossi, the teenager, who has had a history of seizures, died on the scene at Travolta's vacation home at the Old Bahama Bay Hotel on Grand Bahama Island, following failed attempts to revive him. During the seizure, Jett reportedly hit his head on the bathtub in his hotel room, Access Hollywood reported.
Travolta's son was rumored to be autistic but the actor strongly denied the speculation claiming his son suffered from Kawasaki Syndrome, a condition which often leads to heart disease. According to the American Heart Association, "About 80 percent of the people with Kawasaki disease are under age 5. Children over age 8 are rarely affected."
Jett's body will be transferred to Restview Memorial Mortuary and Crematorium in The Bahamas on Monday.
The actor, who also has an 8-year-old daughter Ella called Jett "my baby" in an interview with the Australian media several years ago.
"He's my first, and he's my heart. And he's a very special boy," Travolta said. "He's Daddy's boy. And... we spend a lot of time together even though I'm pretty busy. He loves the outdoors and he loves to travel.
"He loves being on the plane. We fly in the ultralight together," he continued. "And...he likes to climb trees and swim."
