John Singleton, The Director Of Boyz N the Hood, Involved In Car Accident

John Singleton, the director of Poetic Justice and 2 Fast 2 Furious, was involved in a car accident, on Thursday around 8 p.m. While driving his Lexus SUV, Singleton struck and killed a pedestrian, who suddenly stepped in front of his vehicle.

Singleton immediately stopped the car and called the police. The pedestrian, who was a 57-years old woman, was identified as Constance Russell.

"Mr. Singleton stopped and identified himself as required by law and was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol," said Officer Jason Lee, a police spokesman, quoted by AP. "He was questioned and released", he added.

John Singleton was nominated for Oscar in 1991 for his movie for Boyz N the Hood and it is the only Afro-American to be nominated for this award.

His other films include Rosewood, Baby Boy, Shaft, Hustle & Flow, and Four Brothers. He was the producer of Hustle & Flow, Black Snake Moan and Illegal Tender.

His latest movie, Black Snake Moan, starring Samuel L. Jackson, Christina Ricci and Justin Timberlake, was released this year in March.
