This weekend’s Saturday Night Live featured an opening sketch with the real presidential candidate John McCain aside Gov. Sarah Palin portrayed by Tina Fay. The two addressed in a very amusing manner the highly debated financial issues experienced by the Republicans at the end of this presidential campaign.
“This past Wednesday, Barack Obama purchased air time on three major networks,” said McCain, referring of course to the Democrat's half-hour infomercial. “We, however, can only afford QVC.”
They explained that the broadcast deal involves some teleshopping ads and began presenting several products.
“These campaigns sure are expensive,” Fey added, bringing attention to her black suit, which was a shot taken at the Republican National Committee, which spent more than $150,000 on clothes for Palin and her family.
Mr. McCain also joked about the different approach adopted by his opponent to bring in his campaign videos popular singers and actors, saying that his only showbiz connections are John Voight and Heidi from The Hills.
"Look, would I rather be on three major networks?" McCain asked. "Of course, but I'm a true maverick -- a Republican without money," and concluded by inviting everyone to the polls on Tuesday.
McCain explained a few days ago that his basic strategy is the same he has had since the beginning of his campaign, which involves a true connection with the voters, honest talks about the issues and also a stand by his record of service to this great country. Still, he also added that he is considering a few radical last minute strategies.
