There are just three days left until the long awaited
Election Day and still lots of things to do for John McCain, who made space in
his busy schedule in order to appear on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.”
Following his opponent’s 30-minute campaign ad on Wednesday
which was watched by over 33 million people, the Republican presidential
candidate will try to entertain viewers and maybe draw some voters during
tonight’s show. John McCain’s campaign confirmed on Friday that the Arizona
senator would show up for the late-night program, which has represented a vital
political show throughout the presidential campaign season.
John McCain’s running mate, Sarah Palin, has been an usual
guest on “Saturday Night Live,” even if impersonated by comedienne Tina Fey.
After boosting audiences for the NBC program with her impression of the Alaska
governor, the “30 Rock” creator lured the real Sarah Palin into the show. She
made an appearance on “Saturday Night Live” some two weeks ago and helped the
program earn its highest ratings in 14 years.
Although rumors have been circulating regarding a Barack
Obama cameo on tonight’s show, they were not confirmed. However, we wouldn’t be
bothered by a satirical debate between the two. Not at all, actually. The
episode will be hosted by actor Ben Affleck, a public supporter of the
Democratic presidential contender.
John McCain, 72, who is usually imitated by Darrell Hammond
on “SNL,” made his last appearance on the show in May, when he joked about his
own age, saying: “I ask you, what should we be looking for in our next
president? Certainly, someone who is very, very, very old.”
In addition, the Republican presidential candidate was the
host of “SNL” approximately six years ago, when he made fun of Barbra
Streisand’s political views by singing a mixture of her hits.
I wonder how John McCain tries to turn the odds in his favor
tonight, live from New York.
