A young woman restricted from approaching actor John Cusack was arrested Sunday on suspicion of stalking after she showed up at his Malibu home, Los Angeles officials said Monday.

Emily Leatherman, 33, has a restraining order filed against her by John Cusack which forbids her from having any contact with the actor. She nevertheless showed up Sunday outside Cusack’s Malibu home, in a cab.

Notice was first taken of the woman when a cab driver reported that he had a passenger refusing to pay the due fare for the ride to the area. Deputies were called to the 24000 block of Malibu Road about 7 p.m. Sunday.

As they approached the scene, Cusack came over to them and said he recognized the woman and that she had been stalking him. She was booked at the Malibu-Lost Hills station, on suspicion of felony stalking, violating a restraining order and petty theft.

Leatherman was being held in lieu of $150,000 bail, sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore was quoted by the Los Angeles Times as saying. “She was arrested and had violated a previous restraining order taken out against her by Mr. Cusack,” Whitmore said.

“Apparently, Mr. Cusack flagged down one of our deputies and told him that this woman had been stalking him,” Whitmore said.

Cusack told authorities that he was unaware of the woman crossing his property Sunday. Whitmore said deputies recovered evidence at the scene that led to the arrest but declined to elaborate, adds the Times.

Cusack obtained a three-year restraining order against Leatherman in July 2006, explains E! Online, stating that the woman had been stalking him for 18 months, frequently showing up at his house, throwing love letters over his fence and threatening to hurt herself if he did not respond.

She also rerouted her mail to be delivered to his address, E! Online reports from court documents.

Leatherman’s version is that she sent only two letters to Cusack and that she had attempted to contact several stars in hopes that they would sympathize with her alleged tragic past. According to the Times, she was arrested one year ago outside the Beverly Hills home of Tom Cruise, also on suspicion of violating a restraining order.
