How time passes - one day you’re a New Kid on the Block and the next you’re welcoming a baby boy that is indeed new on the block. Dad Joey McIntyre is beyond himself though.

Former boy band member Joey McIntyre, the youngest singer in New Kids on the Block, and his wife Barrett, welcomed a baby boy Tuesday in Los Angeles, People magazine reports on its website, citing the artist’s representative.

“The family is happy and healthy,” the rep told People.com. “Everyone's doing well and they're excited he made it here in time for Thanksgiving.”

The young couple have not decided on a name yet for the youngest member of their family, the magazine reports.

The 7 lb. 12 oz. baby boy is the first child for the new father. Obviously proud of his wife, McIntyre told people.com: “My wife is a rock star!”

McIntyre, 34, and Barrett, 29, married in August 2003. The young couple found out they were expecting a baby on St. Patrick’s Day, on which the singer commented: “Being an Irish guy that's a good luck charm!”

He announced impending fatherhood on his website in June, expressing his happiness with having moved to a new “dreams house,” essential because it had extra room for the baby. “It’s been a huge year so far and it ain’t even half time,” he wrote.

McIntyre was in the New Kids on the Block from the mid-1980s to the mid-‘90s and then embarked on a solo career. His most recent solo album is “Talk to Me,” released last year.

McIntyre was a celebrity contestant on the first season of ABC’s successful series “Dancing with the Stars,” winning third place with dance professional partner Ashly DelGrosso. He also participated in the show's first tour, which ran from December 2006 through February.

He has also turned to acting, appearing in several Broadway productions over the past several years.
