Jobs-less Macworld, Disappointing

You can never say that Macworld is boring – but it can disappoint you. Such was the case of the last Macworld, which has been criticized by tech reviewers for the lack of novelty and low performance value.

Regarding products, Macworld had new items to offer, yet they were few and less exciting than in the past. More precisely, Apple officials used Macworld as a platform to announce that they had decided to drop the copy protection they had on songs sold on the Internet – good news for all iTunes users.

In addition, they also launched their slimmest 17-inch laptop, one of the few interesting aspects of this Macworld edition.Unfortunately, Steve Jobs was absent from the event, which caused discontent among many of the people present at Macworld.

The disappointment resulted after the conference was probably caused by the high standards people were used to at the previous Macworld editions – after all, Macworld was the technology conference that had introduced iPhone to the world.

Apple’s shares have also registered a decline of 0.7 percent, which is not dramatic on its own, but it becomes tragic when compared with Nasdaq’s 1.7 percent gain in shares.

Overall, this edition of Macworld had a few innovative products, a few interesting pieces of news, but nothing extraordinary and, most importantly – no Steve Jobs.
