Joaquin Phoenix Starts Rap Career

Joaquin Phoenix has made his debut in rap music after he had announced on October 27, 2008, his retirement from film as to focus on his music career. He is best known for his previous musical attempt with recording the soundtrack to “Walk the Line.”

He made his first public performance as a rapper this past weekend when he held a concert at the Las Vegas club, LAVO. But despite his efforts to make this rap attempt as good as possible, Phoenix fell flat on his rear while walking off the stage.

The 34-year old brother of actor River Phoenix sang three awkward song set but the most interesting part of his performance was captured by his brother-in-law, Casey Affleck, who is married to Summer, Phoenix’s sister. While Affleck wanted only to capture Phoenix’s transition to music, the wannabe-rap-star made a fool out of him by stumbling at the end of his performance.

Many of those who captured his performance, including the spectacular end of it, wondered whether Phoenix’s decision to perform rap music is a joke. Still, the ex-actor insisted it isn’t. Before the performance, Phoenix told journalists from People magazine that this is who he is and this is his story.

Phoenix announced his retirement last year when he said that his role in “Two Lovers” would be the last one for him. The release date for his first album wasn’t revealed yet, but it is certainly produced by Sean Combs, known as P. Diddy.

The “Gladiator” star is also known for his work as a social activist and an advocate for animal rights. He spent a lot of time behind the cameras too, while directing music videos and producing movies and television shows.
