More than one year after Jive
Software announced Clearspace 1.0 in February 2007, here comes Clearspace 2.0,
an enterprise collaboration software offering companies, communities or teams a
productive way to work.
“Information should be flowing
between employees, customers and partners without a lot of technical barriers,”
said David Hersh, Jive CEO, according to CNET News, after the launch of
Clearspace last year. “E-mail is over-used, and chiseling away at the e-mail
problem is certainly something big companies have asked to do so.”
The new features include a
personalizable homepage, which is “like iGoogle for your work life,” as its
developers described it, expanded profiles and organizational relationships,
and of course projects, sharing and SharePoint integration.
At the same time, it offers new
features “under the hood,” such as recording an audit long of actions performed
in the admin console, the switch to the Spring and Struts 2 and improvements to
the rich text editor, the developers said in the announcement.
Clearspace allows coordination between
co-workers, using calendar, uploading content and assigning tasks, while at the
same time the projects are automatically updated. Anything from the homepage to
a space or a project can be personalized, while an advanced searching
makes it easy to connect with the right people.
Together with Clearspace 2.0,
Jive also launched a new Web site, which they have been working on to build “a
beauty of a site that matches the depth of the new Clearspace release,” Dave
Hersh said upon announcing Clearspace 2.0, which he called “a giant leap for
enterprise social productivity.”
