Golden Globe-winning actor Jim Carrey and “Juno” director Jason Reitman will team up for an upcoming comedy titled “Pierre, Pierre.”
Wacky comedian Jim Carrey will portray the main character, a “self-indulgent French nihilist,” while Academy Award-nominated Jason Reitman is attached to direct the comedy for Fox Atomic, per trade paper Variety.
It is Carey’s character’s job in the movie to transport a stolen painting from Paris to London; in the process, he falls in love once more with his native country.
The script has been penned by Edwin Cannistraci and Frederick Seton. Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch are producing, along with Reitman’s production company Hard C. The movie has a budget of $13 million, according to Variety.
“Pierre, Pierre” is not next on Reitman’s list though. He is currently producing “Jennifer's Body,” a dark comedy-horror written by “Juno” Academy Award-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody.
“Transformers” star Megan Fox is attached to play the main character, a cheerleader who becomes possessed by a demon and starts killing the town’s young men one by one until her “plain Jane” best friend kills her.
Carrey next hits theaters with “Horton Hears a Who!,” a CGI animated film based on the 1954 book by Dr. Seuss. Carrey lends his voice to Horton the Elephant and is joined by actors Steve Carell, Carol Burnett, Dan Fogler and Seth Rogen, among others.
The film is scheduled for March 14 release.
He also stars in Warner Bros.’ “Yes Man,” directed by Peyton Reed and co-staring Zooey Deschanel, Terence Stamp and Bradley Cooper.
Carrey was last in theaters with the 2007 film “The Number 23,” a psychological thriller co-starring Virginia Madsen and Danny Huston. He is currently filming “A Christmas Carol,” directed by Robert Zemeckis.
