It’s not easy being Jessica Simpson, especially when you are
booed by the audience while performing at your first country music show. Wait a
minute..wasn’t she a pop singer? Why in the world did she start singing country
music? I’m pretty sure it has nothing to do with Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo,
the “boy” she is currently dating.
According to Us Weekly, Saturday, Jessica Simpson opened for
Sara Evans at the 15th Annual Country Thunder USA Festival in Randall
and some people from the crowd booed her. She came after “American idol”
finalist Kellie Pickler but the audience wasn’t at all impressed with
her country style…even though she had the white button-down shirt, cowboy boots
and Daisy Dukes.
Seeing that people weren’t giving her a chance, she
explained that she was “just a girl from Texas.”
“I don't know what your perception is of Jessica Simpson or
what tabloid you buy, but I just want you to know that I'm just a girl from Texas. I'm just like
you. I'm doing what I love and dating a boy,” Jessica Simpson told the crowd,
reported Us Weekly.
The “boy” is Tony Romo, a Wisconsin native and he, of
course, was in the audience. Let’s hope he wasn’t one of those who booed the
singer. After all, she did dedicate him the tune “You're My Sunday.”
While some fans were enjoying her music, others said she
didn’t belong there.
“I just don’t hear the country in her; I don't hear the
twang. She’s not good enough to be here,” said Adam Matos, 21.
While she was on stage, the singer performed covers of
Willie Nelson and Shania Twain hits, as well as songs from her new album “Do
You Know,” out Sept. 9.
