Country singer Jessica Simpson stopped her live performance
on “Good Morning America, during her second song, “With You,” in Times Square
Tuesday morning.
The singer was introduced by GMA hosts Diane Sawyer and
Robin Roberts and she addressed her fans, thanking them for making her hit song
“With You” number one.
opened her act with “Come On Over,” which she performed with
no problems. But after singing the opening line of her quadruple platinum hit
“With You,” she stopped, saying: “Hold on, I
know this is live TV, but I can't hear anything. Do it again.”
The crowd was silent and
the music stopped, but nor for long. Jessica immediately encouraged her
musicians to start over, asking “You got it?”
“There you go,” she
continued, performing her song, but not without missing a line of two.
Well, at least she
convinced her fans as well as her critics that she was not lip synching…
Jessica appeared on GMA
to promote her country music album “Do You Know,” which was launched in the
same day.
Before the performance,
the singer chatted a bit with Diane Sawyer and Robin Roberts, telling them that
the switch to country music was just a natural progression.
She said country music
was a natural place for her and, as she has always been a country girl, “it
feels good being on stage and being myself.”
