As expected, Jennifer Lopez, who first thought about competing in a triathlon when she was 8 months pregnant with her twins Emme and Max, reached the finish line of the Nautica Malibu Triathlon after 2 hours, 23 minutes and 38.8 seconds.
Victoriously raising her arms in the air, the 39-year-old singer-actress, who competed despite a foot injury which forced her to cancel her appearance as guest judge on the "Project Runway" finale, smiled as she crossed the finish line after swimming, biking and running.
"Thank you guys so much. This is an amazing day," she told cheering fans at the event. "This is an amazing day." Also watching and cheering from the sidelines was J.Lo's supportive husband, Marc Anthony. The two, who are expected to fly to New York for Anthony's birthday party, were spotted locking lips in between the biking and running sessions.
"I feel really great and so glad I finished and that I made it out of the water but more amazing than that, I feel really great that we raised $127,000 for the Children's Hospital [of Los Angeles] and hopefully it'll go to good use," Lopez added.
Explaining how she got the idea for the triathlon challenge, Lopez revealed on Good Morning America in August that she felt she "was beached… like a whale," and while watching a triathlon on TV, she said to herself: "You know what? I think I could do that. That would be great for me to do, maybe I’ll do it this year."
"Everybody told me I was crazy," she joked.
Lopez, who gave birth in February, wasn't the only celebrity in Sunday's competition, her "Wedding Planner" co-star, Matthew McConaughey, was among the hundreds of participants at the annual race, which benefits Children's Hospital of Los Angeles' Pediatric Cancer Research Program. McConaughey, who was accompanied by his girlfriend, model Camila Alves, and their newborn son Levi, completed the race in 1 hour, 30 minutes and 44.7 seconds.
