Musical couple Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have announced that starting this fall, fans will be able to see them both on stage as they embark on a joint tour.
Billboard.com reports that Lopez and Anthony will start their tour September 29 in Atlantic City, N.J. Details on the itinerary will be revealed next week and fans can start getting their tickets August 10.
The two singers will play their own sets on the tour but will reportedly also sing together in English and Spanish. Furthermore, proceeds from the concerts will go to charity. One dollar from every ticket sold will be donated to ING Run for Something Better, a children's fitness and healthy lifestyle program, Billboard reports.
Last week, Marc Anthony talked to Billboard. “Jennifer has never toured. I've toured all my life. This is where I can step in and say, 'Oh, my God, this could be fun,' and introduce her to that world. It is something she's always wanted to do, but she's never had the time. And I was offered many more films I never took advantage of because I was always on tour.”
The two have collaborated artistically before. They recorded the duets “No Me Ames,” on Jennifer’s 1999 album “On the 6” and “Escapémonos” on Marc’s 2004 album “Amar Sin Mentiras,” among others.
Jennifer and Marc will also appear in “El Cantante,” a biopic about salsa legend Hector Lavoe. Marc stars as the title character, while Jennifer plays Lavoe’s wife, Nilda. Billboard informs that the film's soundtrack, to be released today (July 24), is Anthony's ninth studio album and the first from his new venture with Sony BMG.
Marc, 38, and Jennifer, 39, have been married since June 2004. Asked how they manage their busy schedules as well balance the personal projects with the collaborations, the singer replied he and his wife have a partnership.
“A big part of mine and Jennifer's connection is the understanding that we have a passion for what we do. So, it's just a natural progression to be involved. Me, I cannot sit down and have a conversation about image. That's her strong suit. She picks me up where I'm weak and I elevate her where she's weak. That's where the true partnership comes in.”
Jennifer is also looking forward to the summer release of her film “Bordertown,” where she plays the role of an investigative reporter that uncovers a series of unsolved murders in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico.
Jennifer received the Artists for Amnesty International award for her work on “Bordertown” as actress and producer.
