Jennifer Hudson is not able to enter the Chicago South Side home were her mother and brother were shot dead. The Oscar-wining actress is so affected by the loss of her mother, brother and nephew that she can not enter the room were her relatives were shot.
Hudson will reportedly take some time off her busy agenda. Demitrias Jackson, the actress’ cousin, told reporters that Jennifer is strong and she is holding the family together after this terrible tragedy.
"She is going to take a break from acting. She'll be taking time for herself and to be with her family,” Demitrias Jackson added.
However, the 27-year-old actress attended the funeral ceremony of her relatives on Monday. The ceremony was very emotional and it included moving gospel performances by Hudson’s
former rivals on hit TV show "American Idol".
As many as 2,500 mourners passed the opened caskets of Darnell Donerson; her brother, Jason; and her nephew, Julian King. The funeral service was held at the Apostolic Church of God on the South Side. Jennifer Hudson took a few minutes with each dead member of her family. She first went to her 7-year-old nephew Julian who was found shot dead in a SUV. Then she went to her mother’s casket, leaned over and kissed her goodbye and then she paused at her brother’s blue casket for a few minutes before rejoining her fiancé, reality-TV star David "Punk" Otunga, and her sister, Julia.
Hudson’s three relatives were shot dead in the family's Englewood home Oct. 24. Her mother, Darnell Donerson, was 57 and her brother Jason Hudson was 29. The body of her nephew Julian was found three days later.
Police investigators still don’t have a suspect.
