Jennifer Hudson Is Back on Track

The Chicago native singer Jennifer Hudson finished filming the video for "If This Isn't Love" in Los Angeles, which is expected to debut on the 9th of February. The song is part of her self-titled album, which garnered her multiple Grammy nominations, including best R&B album. The clip for "If It Isn't Love" was reportedly set to shoot last month, but according to UsMagazine.com, Hudson was not ready at that time, in the wake of the tragedy which had occurred in her family.

The artist is slowly starting to return to work after her 57-year-old mother, Darnell Hudson Donerson, together with Jennifer’s 29-year-old brother, Jason Hudson and 7-year-old nephew Julian King, were murdered in their Chicago home on the 28th of October by William Balfour, her estranged brother-in-law, who has been charged.

This year the NFL has enlisted Jennifer Hudson, to perform the National Anthem at the Super Bowl in Tampa, Florida, on the 1st of February. This will be the first time since the tragedy that she will sing in public.

Hudson has previously announced that she will perform at the Grammy Awards as well, as the show will be broadcast from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on the 8th of February, at 8 p.m. on CBS.

The 27-year-old best supporting actress of 2006 follows the steps of many other artists to sing at the Super Bowl. In 1999, Cher, who won the 1987 best actress award for "Moonstruck," performed the national anthem. The following year, Phil Collins did the same just weeks before winning an Oscar for the song "You'll Be In My Heart" from "Tarzan." In 2005, Paul McCartney also performed together with the other three Beatles — George Harrison, John Lennon and Ringo Starr after having won the 1970 original song score Oscar for "Let It Be."
