Despite its title, Jenna Jameson's latest flick "Zombie Strippers" is far from the type of movies people got used to seeing her in, in fact, the former porn star called it "really political."
During a promotional appearance on TV show "The View," Jenna Jameson talked about "Zombie Strippers," also starring Robert Englund, famous for playing Freddie Krueger.
"There’s a lot of political undertones against the Bush administration. And that’s part of the reason why I did the movie. I kind of fancy myself a political girl," said Jameson, who retired from the adult movie industry last year.
The movie revolves around Jameson's character, a stripper who's being turned into a
"super-zombie" after the Nevada strip club she's working at gets struck by a chemical virus.
Overall, the film got many bad reviews for the poor acting, ridiculous dialogue and the really low-budget appearance, while being praised for living up to its title.
"I think that was the biggest draw for me," the 34-year-old actress was quoted as saying by SFgate.com in a recent interview at the Four Seasons hotel in Beverly Hills. "When I read the script, I thought it was brilliant. It's funny. It's a great way to pull people in and send them away with a message."
"Pornography has been a scapegoat for the Republicans for a very long time. It's embarrassing as an American to think that so many people are without insurance, there are people going hungry, we're in a deficit - and they're more worried about me having sex on camera. People are dying in Darfur. I mean, come on," she said, explaining her life-long fight against establishment.
However, Jameson's acting skills are not nearly as bad as expected, providing the audience with a very animated and lifelike performance. As the first to get bitten and subsequently reanimated, Jameson spends most of her screen time as a zombie, doing what she got famous for in the first place, which in this case includes a spectacular sequence of minimally clothed pole dances.
"Zombie Strippers" is rated R (Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian) for crudity, nudity, flesh-eating, head-exploding and other gore.
