The blues, R&B and jazz
famous singer Etta James is now in stable condition after she has been
hospitalized because of complication from an abdominal surgery she had last
month. The nature of her mid-June surgery has not bee made public.
Although her condition has now
been stabilized, the singer however had to cancel her upcoming tour dates
alongside Al Green and B.B. King. Etta James is 69 years old, but despite her
age the Grammy Award winning singer has said she is very disappointed she had to
cancel the tour’s appearances.
The singer’s participation in
B.B. King Blues Festival has been canceled but the singer’s public appearance
has been postponed till the 23rd of August, when her doctors and
manager hope she will be in good shape for performing. Chaka Khan will be
taking Etta James and her Roots band’s place for the most part of the concert
dates in the B.B. King Blues Festival that has kicked off on Hollywood on Tuesday.
Etta James become famous in the
1950s for such hits as “Wallflower (Dance with Me Henry)”, “All I Could Do Was
Cry”, “Good Rockin’ Daddy”, “Tell Mama” and her most known ballad “At Last”.
The singer was experienced drug addiction (heroin) and she even been in prison
of petty crimes, as well as in a psychiatric hospital. In 2001, the singer also
underwent a weight-loss surgery.
The singer was being treated at
the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
