It seems that Britney Spears’ father is still handling the
singer’s affairs and, according to experts, Jamie Spears will continue to do so
for some time. E! Online reported that Jamie Spears was likely to remain in charge of
his daughter’s affairs.
On February 1st, Jamie Spears, 56, was named
temporary conservator of the pop star’s affairs and two months ago Britney Spears’
attorney Samuel Ingham testified that the singer was not in condition to attend
legal proceedings, adding that they could also be “harmful to her.”
Britney Spears was hospitalized two times in January, before
her father became in charge. Jamie Spears gets to decide the persons his
daughter gets to see and he has also hired security guards to watch her all the
time. Jamie Spears and another lawyer have control over her estate.
According to E! Online, sources said that Jamie Spears’
conservatorship will remain active until the end of 2008. Apparently lawyers of
Jamie Spears intend to ask Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz
to prolong the order until the fall.
Overall, since her father came into the scene, the singer
seems to have gotten thing under control, as she managed to gain more time
with her two children Sean Preston and Jayden James. She also filmed a video
for Madonna’s upcoming concert tour and got nominated for Best Female Video at
the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, which will take place on September 7.
Regarding Sam Lutfi, Britney Spears’ former friend, the
restraining order against him will not be extended, according to an attorney
for the singer.
“Britney has made clear to everyone that she does not want
to be further harassed or contacted in any way by Osama 'Sam' Lutfi, now or at
anytime in the future,” Britney Spears’ attorney Samuel Ingham said in a
statement to The Associated Press.
