More than 300 items belonging to the best thing that happened to the Soul music will be auctioned at Christie's auction house in New York.
Among the memorabilia belonging to James Brown will be the artist’s performance outfits, awards, platinum records, instruments, furniture, and handwritten lyrics. The artist’s belongings that will be auctioned are estimated to be worth about one million dollars. The legendary singer’s 83 pairs of sunglasses and 80 hair rollers will be auctioned by Christie's.
Fans and memorabilia collectors will be able to buy the artist's love notes, handwritten lyrics and the denim jumpsuit Brown wore in 1974 at the concert before the well-known "Rumble in the Jungle" boxing bout between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman.
James Brown’s "Godfather of Soul" Yamaha baby grand piano from his South Carolina home is also up for bids.
The soul icon’s personal belongings will go under hammer on July 17, but can be viewed on the Christie's site.
James Joseph Brown, Jr., also referred to as "The Godfather of Soul", "King of Funk", and "The Hardest Working Man in Show Business", was one of the most influential figures in 20th century popular music. He was recognized for numerous titles such as, Sex Machine, Mr. Dynamite, The Hardest Working Man in Show Business, Mr. Please Please Please, The Boss, and the best-known, the Godfather of Soul.
Brown died a year and a half ago at 73.
