Jamal Woolard is a Brooklyn rapper who pushes hard against his limitations as an actor to be able to show rap legend Christopher Wallace, known as Biggie Smalls and the Notorious BIG, as he was, a mama’s boy, a ladies’ man and a glowering criminal, as well as a high-living celebrity and a neighborhood character.

It turns out that the 33-year-old actor was arrested for allegedly having slapped his wife in their East New York home in September. Court papers indicate the fact that Woolard was also charged with harassment, menacing and misdemeanor assault in connection with that incident, according to the Post.

 

Like the character he is embodying in the movie called “Notorious”, the late Christopher Wallace, aka Biggie Smalls, aka Notorious B.I.G., Jamal Woolard was born and raised in Brooklyn. He raps under an alias, Gravy, and he has even been shot in a drive-by. After the shooting, the surviving Jamal went immediately on the radio for a scheduled interview ay NYC’s Hot 97 before getting treatment for his wounds at a nearby hospital.

 

“Notorious” does not offer any clues or ideas about Biggie’s murder, which remained unsolved for more than 11 years. However, it tries to explain the East Coast-West Coast rivalry between Biggie's Bad Boy Records crew and Tupac Shakur's Death Row Records. That section and the scenes shot on Brooklyn's street corners are those that make the movie feel a little bit authentic.
