Michael Jackson is said to be preparing to help put together a musical based on the video for his hit song “Thriller,” according to a statement by producer James Nederlander, whose company owns nine Broadway theaters. Nederlander said that Jacko would be offering his input for the entire creative process.

Michael Jackson’s spokesman stated that the pop star and the producer represented live theater and musical excellence.

The musical has been scheduled to be staged at London's Lyric Theatre that opened earlier this month, for which event Jackson's brother Tito was present.

Nederlander’s company said that the production would be the exclusive Michael Jackson authorized version of his song „Thriller.”

The Broadway show will focus on the video for Jacko’s hit song, which was first released in 1983 and featured Jackson as a werewolf along with dancing zombies.

For the time being, no details concerning the show have been offered, still word has it that it will also feature songs from Michael Jackson's 1979 album „Off The Wall.”

The 1982 album „Thriller” was the first one to use music videos as promotional tools, with those for the songs „Thriller,” „Billie Jean” and „Beat It” having been played on heavy rotation on MTV.

Last year, the album was reissued again under the „Thriller 25” name and it comprised re-mixes that featured contemporary artists, a previously unreleased song and a DVD.

“Thriller” scored the twentieth position on Rolling Stone magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list in 2003, while the National Association of Recording Merchandisers listed it at number three in their Definitive 200 Albums of All Time.
