Although critics haven’t really enjoyed the sequel and the third episode of “The Pirates of The Caribbean,” there is reportedly a fourth movie on the way, starring Hollywood’s favorite, the one and only chameleon actor and hottie Johnny Depp.
On Thursday morning, the role was announced by Depp's reps, confirming something critics have feared, but millions of fans dreamed about. Turns out, it wasn’t so unexpected for the true Sparrow believers, as the pirate was last spotted in "At World's End" setting sail for the Fountain of Youth, thus leaving room for the next episode, this time probably a solo adventure.
Why solo? Because fellow Caribbean stars Knightley and Bloom repeatedly stated that they were done and over with the franchise.
But Disney has more plans for Mr. Depp, aside the sword fighting and dreadlock wearing, as they announced at the "Walt Disney Showcase," the preview of the studio's next several years of movies.
The event took place on Wednesday at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland and featured a special surprise appearance of Depp’s, costumed as Jack Sparrow, walking onstage to the tune of "The William Tell Overture," the "Lone Ranger" theme, as a hint to another of the actor’s projects with the studios.
He will appear in a new version of "The Lone Ranger," but not as the heroic cowboy, as some news outlets rumored for a while, but as the Ranger's loyal Native American sidekick, Tonto, the Johnny Depp's reps stated this morning.
The 45-year-old actor will also star in the all-new 3-D "Alice in Wonderland," as the Mad Hatter, joining 18-year-old newcomer Mia Wasikowska, who has been chosen to play Alice and director Tim Burton, with whom he made other seven movies, including "Edward Scissorhands" and "Sweeney Todd."
