Jack Johnson’s most recent studio album, “Sleeping through the Static,” remains No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for a third consecutive week, selling a dignified 105,000 copies.
Hawaiian singer-songwriter Jack Johnson released “Sleep through the Static” on Feb. 5 via Brushfire Records and within a week it had already registered 2008’s first sales record, selling an impressive 375,000 copies, as Nielsen SoundScan reported at the time.
Johnson maintained his No. 1 spot the following week, with an additional 180,000 copies, ahead of artists like Amy Winehouse and Herbie Hancock whose albums made huge strides on the charts following their victories at the Feb. 10 Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.
For a third consecutive week Johnson stays atop the Billboard 200, with another 105,000 sold albums, per Nielsen SoundScan.
Alicia Keys’ yo-yoing “As I Am” climbs to No. 2 again, with 53,000, while Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black” slips to No. 3 with 52,000.
This week’s most successful debut comes from the 13th edition of the “Kidz Bop” series, which opens at No. 4 with 49,000. Billboard.com reports that this is the 16th “Kidz Bop” title in the collection to chart on The Billboard 200.
The soundtrack to “Step Up 2: The Streets” made a remarkable leap to No. 5 from last week’s tenth place, selling 43,000, while the soundtrack to Academy Award winner teen pregnancy comedy “Juno” remains at No. 6 for a third week with 38,000.
Sara Bareilles’ “Little Voice” registers another of this week’s fast movements on the chart, climbing to No. 7 from 21, with 37,000.
Country music singer-songwriter Chris Cagle sees his new album “My Life's Been a Country Song” debut at No. 9 with 37,000. The album is faring much better on the Top Country Albums chart, where it reigns at No. 1.
Mary J. Blige’s “Growing Pains” stays at No. 9 for a second week, with another 35,000 sold copies, while Taylor Swift’s self-titled album rounds up the top ten at No. 10 with 33,000.
