Jack Black was promoting his newest film in Los Angeles, “Be Kind Rewind,” this weekend when he confirmed that his wife is pregnant with their second child.
Funnyman Jack Black and his musician wife Tanya Haden are expecting their second child, the actor confirmed Saturday at a Beverly Hills hotel during a press day for his latest cinematic project, “Be Kind Rewind,” People magazine reports on its website.
“Yes, she's expecting,” Black said. He did not offer additional details, for example, whether the baby will be a brother or a sister for their firstborn or when the little one is due.
Tanya Haden, 36, is a cellist and one of the triplet daughters of the late jazz great Charlie Haden. Story has it that Black and Haden went to high school together but the comedian’s romantic feelings for the musician were unrequited.
Meeting by chance later in life, as adults, the two fell in love. They married in 2006 and are already parents to a 1 1/2 year-old son named Samuel.
While Black, 38, would not give details of the baby to come, he did tell reporters that he has adopted a “day-by-day” strategy to parenting.
“I've been told that two children is three times as hard as one child, but then strangely three children is easier than one,” he joked.
Black’s most recent film, “Be Kind Rewind,” is directed by Michel Gondry (“Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” “The Science of Sleep”). The cast includes Mos Def, Mia Farrow and Danny Glover.
Black stars as a man who accidentally erases all the video tapes in his friend’s video rental store; worried that the mishap could cost his friend his job, the man sets out to remake films requested by the store’s loyal customers himself.
The film is scheduled for a February 22, 2008 release.
