JVC announced a new addition to its Everio line by
introducing a new model, GZ-HD3, with an internal hard drive.
JVC HD Everio GZ-HD3 offers a an advanced CCD image sensor
and the capability to record 1,440 by 1080 video to a 60GB internal hard
disk. In order to produce more accurate
color reproduction HD Everio GZ-HD3 camcorder employs three 16:9 progressive
scan CCDs, each dedicated to one of the three primary colors - red, green,
blue.
Also the quality of the image is driven by HD Gigabrid
Engine, which applies five different noise reduction technologies to images
from each of the three CCDs, while maintaining native resolution
The palm-sized camcorder features a lightweight body and a
compact hybrid aspherical lens system from Konica Minolta that makes the HD3
27% smaller than the Everio GZ-HD7. The GZ-HD3 weighs just 1.5 lbs.
According to JVC the 60 GB internal HDD offers up to 7 hours
of video recording in its SP mode, which peaks out at a maximum bit rate of
22Mbps. In addition to the SP mode the HD Everio GZ-HD3 is also equipped with
an XP mode that records at a higher bit rate for those extra special scenes,
but it reduces the recording time to 5 hours.
JVC equipped the HD Everio GZ-HD3 with a wide range of
interface terminals, including HDMI and component outputs so HD footage can be
viewed on the latest HDTV displays. And standard AV-S terminals that output a
down-converted SD signal provide connectivity to ordinary standard definition
TVs. USB and i.LINK connectors are included for transferring recordings to a
personal computer for editing.
For those who wish to burn their movies directly to DVDs
without connecting the camera to a PC JVC offers an optional CU-VD40 HD Everio
Share Station, which connects to the camera via USB.
The JVC HD Everio GZ-HD3 will be available at retailers in
September for about $1,300.
