It’s not about hardware, but
about games! At least this is the first prediction about this year’s E3 Media
& Business Summit. In 2007 the games software will be in the spotlight
comparing to last year’s expo, when one focused mainly on hardware.
It seems that the already famous
battle between Nintendo’s Wii, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Sony’s PlayStation 3
will continue, but on a new territory; that is the companies’ inventory of
games to choose from for their video game consoles. While Wii has already
become the leader in sales, Microsoft will however be ahead of its two old
rivals when talking about games. Being released a year ahead of Wii and
PlayStation 3, Microsoft’s Xbox unfortunately lost the start for becoming a
sales-leader on the market, due to quality problems.
But Microsoft has tried to do its
best in mending the console’s problems, and, on the other hand, in releasing a
wide inventory of video games. That is why, predictions say that this year’s E3
will be in fact Microsoft’s promoting agency.
The E3 Media & Business
Summit will kick of on Wednesday and it will run for three days; although the
summit shrank in size and become invite-only, everyone is impatiently looking
forward to finding out what the companies are having in mind for the year to
come.
Nintendo, for example, is
expected to release in the next two months to come several games such as
Battalion Wand Brothers in Arms: Double Time, Alien Syndrome and also the
online Mario Strikers Charged. Sony is also expected to announce the release
dates for exclusive PlayStation 3 titles like Grand Turismo 5 and Gods of War
III and others. Sony has announce the release dates for few game titles like
Warhawk, The Gateway 3, Heavenly Sword and Killzone 2, although some of the
dates could easily be changed.
The E3 Media & Business
Summit has been speculated that would be used especially by Sony for announcing
price drops for PlayStation 3. But the company has recently denied the rumor.
