"Saturday Night Live" co-star Amy Poehler and her partner, comedian Will Arnett, welcomed their first child, a boy. Poehler gave birth to Archie Arnett earlier Saturday in New York.
"Amy, Will and Archie are all healthy and resting comfortably," their rep Lewis Kay said in a statement. The baby weighed in at 8 pounds, 1 once.
During the "Weekend Update" segment of Saturday Night Live, Poehler's co-anchor Seth Meyers said his co-host wasn’t there because she was having a baby.
The couple revealed in April that they were expecting their first child.
Poehler joined the cast of SNL during the 2001-2002 season, her first episode being the first one produced after the 9/11 attacks with host Reese Witherspoon and Rudy Giuliani as a special guest. Poehler is currently nominated for an Emmy as Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy, being the first SNL cast member recognized in this category.
Poehler has appeared in films such as Wet Hot American Summer, Mean Girls, Deuce Bigalow: MaleGigolo, Blades of Glory, Shrek the Third and Mr. Woodcook. The actress is currently producing a digital series called Smart Girls at the Party.
Poehler is at her eight season with SNL and she said she may not return to the program after the birth.
Poehler and Arnett, of the FOX comedy Arrested Development played a quasi-incestuous brother and sister ice skating team in the film Blades of Glory.
Will Arnett will star with Kristen Bell in the big-screen comedy When in Rome.
