Recently fired from "Grey’s Anatomy" reportedly as a result of his gay slur last year against his co-worker T.R. Knight, actor Isaiah Washington has a hard time accepting the fact, and claims ABC fired the wrong guy.
Blaming Knight for losing his job, Washington told the Houston Chronicle in a new interview from the set of his upcoming movie, "The Least Of These," that "They fired the wrong guy."
"I'll start from the beginning. I'm telling everything. So here's the truth," he said, adding that he has to clear his name.
The 43-year-old actor, who mentioned something about a lawsuit, accused Knight of exploiting the controversy in order to get a salary increase and to enhance his role.
"My livelihood, my honor and dignity and my name have been so challenged," he says.
Washington is no longer part of "Grey’s Anatomy" cast because he used an anti-gay slur at a Golden Globes press conference in January as the cast was accepting the award for best drama, and allegedly referred to Knight as a "f…t" during a fight with Patrick Dempsey.
"That's a lie," Washington said. "I used the word during a disagreement with Patrick. I apologized for that. We shook hands and went back to work."
Little after the scandal hit the newspapers, 34-year-old T.R. Knight admitted he was gay.
