"Sex and the City: The Movie" was just released on DVD and plans for a second big screen movie were confirmed at the launch party following months of speculation.
During Thursday's "Sex and the City: The Movie" DVD launch party at the New York Public Library, actress Sarah Jessica Parker revealed that producers have already thought of a new story and a second film is going to happen.
It's been longtime known that SATC fans never got closure with their favorite series, when the HBO show ended in 2004, so when the news of a big screen movie first emerged, buzz piled up which eventually paid off on both sides when the movie finally hit the theaters.
According to Usmagazine.com, Parker and writer Michael Patrick King will "have that conversation (about a sequel) sooner rather than later," adding that it's "all about the story."
"We've been really lucky at this point," she continued. "We’ve been in people’s good graces for a long time, and we take that very seriously. So that’s the biggest challenge, the story."
Cynthia Nixon, who was well dressed in a silver cap sleeve dress with contrasting ribbing, told Us she had a few ideas for her character, feisty lawyer Miranda Hobbes.
"I would love to see her and Carrie and Charlotte and Samantha all go off on some wild mad cap adventure somewhere," she said.
Before heading to the party upstairs, "Sex and the City" author Candace Bushnell discussed her recent HarperCollins deal which involves writing two young adult novels about Carrie Bradshaw's teen years.
"I haven't even started working on them yet," Bushnell admitted. "But I love the character, and I am excited to look back at those years and explore what events form her as she becomes a young woman."
"For me, it is hard enough to figure out Carrie Bradshaw at 40, so I can't imagine what she is like during puberty," writer-director Michael Patrick King joked.
